Design of a Friendly Solar Food Dryer for Domestic Over-Production

Solar drying is one of the many ways efficiently making use solar energy to meet human demand for improved sustainability. In this study, we describe construction and testing two indirect dryer prototypes, especially designed vegetables fruits. The dryers had compartments: a panel chamber. were mainly made wood (Prototype 1) styrofoam 2) both used recycled aluminum cans. calculated yield panels was 82% 77% Prototype 1 2, respectively. tests performed with different fresh products showed that it possible dry all them until less than 10% their initial weight, at times, depending on type product. As regards apple slices, able remove 95.7% 95.0% moisture wet basis Comparative conducted an electric commercial using same product explore dynamics costs. cost final product, excluding purchase goods, 6.83 €/kg dryer, 1.78 1.72 2.
